Celades: "We're satisfied to have ended the first half of the season unbeaten at Mestalla"
Albert Celades talked to the media after Valencia CF's 1-0 win over Eibar at Mestalla, and gave his opinions on the hard fought result to open 2020.
The result
“One of the objectives that we've set internally, before today's game, was to end the first half of the season unbeaten at Mestalla. We achieved that thanks to the effort of the players and the support of the fans. We're satisfied to have done this."
Lack of precision in the final ball
"When you don't kill the game off, it's normal that you suffer in the final minutes against any opponents. I think that we had a good opening half hour and had clear chances to score another goal. However, we weren't precise with our final ball and our shooting. Besides this, I think that we handled the final moments of the game well. In the second half we struggled a little more to play, but the team always appeared decisive and ambitious. We had chances on goal but we lacked precision."
The Supercopa
"The best medicine for the next game is winning the match before, and we head to the Supercopa with excitement and a good dynamic. It's another challenge for us; we know the difficulty that winning the trophy brings, but we are very motivated."
Pride in Valencia CF
"I never give myself marks out of ten. I'm here to work and to make sure that the team improve every day. We are happy with where we are, but it's not an exceptional situation either -just good. My greatest joy is working at a big club like Valencia CF, with these players.
